April for our kindergartners meant watching and learning about the Decorah, Iowa, eagle family. Mama eagle laid three eggs and all three eaglets hatched in early April. The eaglets are cute and fluffy right now. We learned that soon they will grow feathers and look more like their parents. They grow very fast and will be almost as big as their mom and dad soon. The white feathers on their head will not come until they are four or five years old and their favorite food is fish. God gave them really, really incredible eyes. Mama eagle is bigger than the daddy eagle. They are a symbol of our country, the United States of America. We love watching them on the Smartboard!
